Why did I love this book?
This is a book every cat-lover should have on their shelf. While many people are under the impression that cats can’t be trained – ‘They do as they please’ – nothing could be further from the truth. Cats not only can be trained but they love interacting with their owners in the learning process. Their training simply can’t be approached in the same way that dogs are taught. Bradshaw and Ellis are specialists in feline behavior and have written a user-friendly and comprehensive guide on cat psychology. This is important as cats are no longer animals kept outside for rodent control, but are now largely indoor pets and much-loved companions. Like humans, more cats than ever before are living in apartments. Understanding a cat’s needs when it’s living with humans, children and other animals in a confined space will result in a happier and healthier cat and a more harmonious relationship with its humans. Bradshaw and Ellis explain how natural (for cats) but problematic (for their humans) behavior such as scratching furniture can be positively redirected.
